Sherpa Villages Trek

Sherpa is a completely new concept of Trekking in Nepal at Everest Region. Nepal Hiking Himalaya is the first trekking agency of Nepal to introduce Sherpa Villages Trek. You will trek in Khumbu region of Nepal but spending more time knowing about Sherpa ethnic community. Relish the lifestyle, traditions and culture of Sherpa as well as witness the glorious Himalayan range of Everest range. Moreover, the journey is understanding of the landscape and culture.

Sherpa Villages trek starts as usual Everest region trekking. Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and walking from Lukla to Phakding is the first day’s activity. Once you reach the Namche Bazaar you will witness the hustling bustling of Sherpa people. The lifestyle, shopping pattern and locality are observed in the town. This is probably the most beautiful Sherpa Hub of the Khumbu region of Nepal. Various Sherpa houses, eateries and bars would be the best place to hang out in the evening. The next day’s trek would be towards the world’s highest located hotel Everest View Hotel.

Sherpa Villages Trek – Mountain Vistas

The magnificent view of the Amadablam, Thamserku, Mt. Everest, Cho yu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori and other Himalayas of Khumbu can be seen from the hotel. Then the Sherpa Villages Trek heads towards Sherpa Village Khumjung. If you are trekking during the Mani Rimdu Festival then this would be the best time for you to understand Sherpa Culture. After Khumjung village the trekking treks towards the Thame. The trail passes by the villages of Sherpa like Khunde and Munde towards Thame Village. The stay in the Thame would be very tranquil and spiritual. If you wish to spend some time away from the crowded Everest Base Camp Trekking trails then Thame is the best place.

Sherpa Villages Trek – Book Cultural Trek

Witness the culture, traditions and rituals of Sherpa. If you wish to spend overnight in Sherpa home then Home Stay can also be organized in the region. The trek returns back to Jorsalle which is another Sherpa Village. Then finally to Lukla as the last day of Sherpa Villages Trek from where next day’s early morning flight will take you back to Kathmandu.

Outline Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu
Day 2 Fly To Lukla & start Trek to Phakding (2,610m / 8,563 ft.) – 3 hrs.
Day 3 Trek to Khumjung (3,753 m) via Shyangboche (3,880m)
Day 4 Trek to Devouche via Thyangboche Monastery (3,800 m / 12,464 ft) – 7 Hrs
Day 5 Back track to Monjo via Namche Bazaar.
Day 6 Backtrack to Lukla via Phakding.
Day 7 Fly to Kathmandu (30 min) & transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu

We will get off at the international airport of Nepal i.e. Tribhuvan international airport. There we may see many welcome to Nepal banner receiving us with their warm blessings. We will guide to the hotel by the representative of Nepal Hiking Himalaya. We will spend the day by exploring around the valley and spending the night at the nearest hotel.

Day 2
Fly To Lukla & start Trek to Phakding (2,610m / 8,563 ft.) – 3 hrs.

We start the morning with the flight over to Lukla at the elevation of 2804m. On arrival at the airport, we will be guided by Nepal Hiking Himalaya towards the nearest hotel to have the lunch. Then we have to move on through the forest. We can meet Sherpa people living here. We have to walk for several hours to reach to Phakding from Lukla for about 2 hours.

Day 3
Trek to Khumjung (3,753 m) via Shyangboche (3,880m)

After spending the night at Phakding, we have to walk forward to the Namche bazaar. We have to walk around 5 to 6 hours to reach to Namche bazaar. We can visit the beautiful Namche bazaar as this area is facilitated with every service. We will walk uphill to Khumjung Village via Shyangboche Airport. This is the largest village of Sherpa people. There are numerous places where you can go.

Day 4
Trek to Devouche via Thyangboche Monastery (3,800 m / 12,464 ft) – 7 Hrs

From Khumjung trek continues along the rushing glacial waters of the Dudh Koshi with wonderful views of the mountains. We trek to an altitude of 3860 meters today. The fairly flat way will take us today to view wonderful landscape of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and close up view of Thamserku, Khangtaiga. The path continues and we can observe wild lives like musk deer (a herd of Himalayan Thar) colorful pheasant (Danphe, National bird). Then the path slopes down to Dudh Koshi River where series of picturesque water driven prayer wheels. Cross suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi River a steep climb through pine and juniper forest, walk about 2 hours bring you to Tenboche. With the background of Ama Dablam, Nupte, Mt. Everest and many more peaks, the famous Gomba, Tengboche Monastery can be spotted.

Day 5
Back track to Monjo via Namche Bazaar.

Leaving mountains at the back of us, our descent get us through Tengboche Monastery at elevation of 3860 meters before continuing back to the town of Namche Bazaar at 3441meters. We arrive back to Manjo via Namche in the afternoon.

Day 6
Backtrack to Lukla via Phakding.

We will continue our trekking to Lukla via Phakding. Enjoy the last day of trekking in Lukla with all the crew members.

Day 7
Fly to Kathmandu (30 min) & transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

After travelling 35 minutes, we fly Back Kathmandu, in the morning and move back to the hotel
