Lukla is the trail head of EBC Trek route. Climbers or hikers trek upward to Namche Bazar (3440 m) along the Dudhkoshi River. It takes two days to reach this Sherpa capital of Khumbu from Lukla. For example, hikers/climbers take morning flight to Lukla and hike to Phakding. From Phakding they enter the Sagarmatha National Park and reach Namche.

Typically at this point of hiking, hikers spend a day to acclimatize. The trail is well paved walking trail. Therefore, you will not have any problem navigating through. Another two days of hike via Tengboche you can reach Dingboche village (4400 m). Usually trekkers/climbers allow a day of rest for proper acclimatization in this village. The trail beyond this point lacks vegetation and has to walk through glaciers/moraines.

Another two days’ hike takes trekkers to the base camp. On the way, hikers rest at Lobuche and Gorakshep.
